Located in Basel, Switzerland, Dr Leuthold has over 10 years of experience in bioanalytics, in the industry. In the PK Sciences department of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, he monitors bioanalytical work for clinical PK samples analysis. His interest in micro-sampling goes back to the time when this was equal to (only) dried blood spots (DBS) analysis. It evolved to being interested in “smart sampling”, to be able to sample patients in a smarter way: not only smaller blood volumes, but also in a painless way or other matrices as plasma. He advices internally clinical teams about options and possible strategies to be more patient-centric for PK sampling.
He completed his PhD at the University of Geneva, in the group of Prof. Gérard Hopfgartner.
